for those of you who don't know: pimsleur is a language-learning method where each lesson is a 30 minute long audio file (MP3). it's so unbelievably easy to learn using pimsleur that I've learnt as much japanese in 2 months as I learnt german in 5 years at school! plus, it's a handy little audio course that you can put on your MP3 player and listen to anytime anywhere.many people have spent a lot of time creating computer programs to learn lojban.I can't believe, though, that nobody has created a Pimsleur-type audio lesson for learning lojban.it would take a while to make, it's true, but:1) it would be one of the greatest contributions anyone has ever made to lojban2) we could make a simple version first, which would just basically be a translation of an existing Pimsleur lesson. this would already be GREAT help, and we could then (when we have more time), make a "version 2", which would be more professional and lojban-specific.I'm sure lojban speakers will notice the "version 1" has so much success that many will want to help making the "version 2".I don't have a sufficient level in lojban to do it myself, but if nobody is motivated enough, I will do it as soon as I have a sufficient level.please, lojban speakers, making a lesson like this would change the lojban landscape completely.and let's be honest, the language isn't popular enough, and its survival depends on a few websites. this could actually save the language as a whole.

Jon is right. The Pimsleur method rocks. It makes learning any second language as easy, or easier, then your first language! Like a child.Instead of majoring on active study, the Pimsleur method uses a natural, passive participation that almost effortlessly engages your mind. A Pimsleur-like audio course would make Lojban easier and more accessible to so many (like me!). If anyone is interested, borrow any course from your local library, or check out the free first lessons online. You'll see how easy they make it. It must be the best kept secret in language learning. This method would help the growing Lojban community. I would like to help, but I'm entirely new to Lojban, and terribly spoiled by Pimsleur!)

Passive audio lessons are always awesome. I'll be sure to look into Pimsleur for other languages as well :o
Someone please do this.

This REALLY needs to happen. I'd love to use it, and to help other people learn with it ... I feel like I'm forever learning lojban, so somebody more fluent needs to do this.
I'm am currently beginning to learn Mandarin using Pimsleur. I will hopefully understand its methods so that maybe I can begin constructing a lojban version following its method closely. It could be made collaboratively. Maybe using an etherpad document or revision control?? The beginning is a simple greeting + question exchange followed by English introduction. Infact there is an entire audio file just introducing the pimsleur method, so lojban mastery i dont think is require to begin with. start making it, then nag experienced speakers to check your lojban. I suspect this will corce progress better than nagging experienced speakers to do it themselves.
I think the first thing to do is to write up a 30-minute lesson and have someone with a clear voice record it.I know too little about Lojban to competently write such a lesson, at least for the time being.
