Also check out http://www.omniglot.com/writing/daedric.htm for fun. If anybody here is a fan of the Elder Scrolls series, then this should be fun. Mapping is obvious as it's 1-to-1 Roman.

My choices with this were a little more thought-out. While I wanted to keep as many characters the same as they are read in their original mode, I found that the readings would be easier and more logical in general if I switched a few things around. Mostly one should note that I moved 'useless' characters out and shifted 'useful' ones over to their 'unvoiced' counterparts. For example, compare J and G in original D'ni. Same character, but G has a marking/diacrit/voicing. As for my decision to move around C/Z, I thought it made a LOT more sense to have Z be the voiced S and for J and C to share similar characters.

I'd like to hear opinions regarding this one, because I feel like I mapped it correctly, but others may feel that I should have kept it closer to the original, or mapped things differently. Let me know what you think. <3!

Here is the original D'ni script, from the Myst universe. When I stumbled across this, I thought it would be a neat idea, especially since I was a huge fan of Myst and the sci-fi books as a child.

My thoughts behind this were a little simplistic, sadly. I'm sure a Klingon speaker would have plenty to say about this.

While S sounds more like cy, I found that ch didn't really have an appropriate use otherwise, so I assigned them for that reason. As for gh as gy, it seemed like the obvious choice as that's the only sound that is even remotely similar. Obviously I switched I for .ibu. I found that w and y are essentially useless, so they were left unassigned. With q, it sounds like ky. Obviously I used j for jy, because it's phonetically similar. Q I left blank because... well... it doesn't sound like anything except xy and that's already got an exact match. Really, the only weird choices I made were mapping zy to ng and tlh to fy, but only because these sounds don't seem to exist at all in Klingon, and so I was left to arbitrarily map them to something.

If any Klingon speakers have a better suggestion, please post. Picking popular scripts like Tengwar, Sarati, D'ni, and Klingon will only be more avenues to get the name of Lojban out there.

Let's start grabbing up orthographies and creating Lojban modes for them!

I personally don't like the existing Tengwar modes, but I'll post my version (FAR superior!) later. For now, I have a Lojban mode set up for D'ni (featured in the popular Myst and Riven games) and Klingon. I don't know quite so much about Klingon, so somebody may want to pop in and correct me, but I'll post my thoughts behind each choice.

"Fake" scripts aside, do we have Lojban modes for scripts like Cyrillic, Hebrew, whatever Farsi is written in, etc.? We should document them! People do often gripe about Roman letters being too western-biased, but new scripts too difficult, so we should make an effort to create Lojban modes for all of the different scripts out there, and maybe even use them, hm?

I'm also working on some ideas for the much-sought-after Hiragana/Katakana Lojban mode, because I have an inkling of how to pull it off.

Yes, it is because of the role it has in lojban grammar. It doesn't count for figuring stress in words, and it isn't pronounced like an "h" by definition, it can be said as any unvoiced fricative that isn't any other letter, such as an interdental or bidental fricative.
